Program Description

The Upward Bound program at the University of Kansas is a federally funded college access program that has been continuously serving eligible students in the Shawnee, Douglas and Wyandotte counties since 1984.  Upward Bound provides first-generation and/or low-income college bound students with the academic support and college preparatory experiences needed to succeed in college immediately after high school. The goal of Upward Bound program is to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education. Currently, KU Upward Bound serves 89 students, in 4 high schools throughout Shawnee, Douglas and Wyandotte counties.

KU Upward Bound is a federally funded college access program that provides fundamental support to participants in their preparation for college entrance. Our program provides opportunities for participants to succeed in their pre-college performance and ultimately in their higher education pursuits. Our goal is to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education.
